Breaking Dawn 2/9/15

Prompt - Pretend you get to create the music soundtrack for what you've been reading. What five songs would you include? Write an explanation for each song: why hold you include it, how does that song connect to the events.

     Breaking Dawn, as well as the rest of The Twilight Series, already had a music soundtrack because they were also made into movies. I think that they picked the very best songs that went well with the story. So, what I'm going to do, is pick the top five and explain why I think the songs went good with the story.

     My very first pick for a song is the song called "Eyes on Fire" by The Blue Foundation. This song, I knew for a while and I love it. I think that this one song went really great with the book/movie Breaking dawn because the lyrics just explain some of the parts of the book. For example, the part that reminded me of this book was where it said, "One more word and you won't survive". This represented all of the times that Bella could've done one wrong mistake and she wouldn't survive because of all the mess she always gets into, like with the Volturi. In the end of Breaking Dawn, Bella and the Cullens almost got into a fight with the Volturi (vampire royalty) and she wouldn't survive against them. Another part that went good with the novel was where it said, "And I'm not scared, of your stolen power." This was a lot like both the movies and the books especially because Bella was never scared that Edward was a vampire; but he was worried that he would hurt her.

     Another one of the songs that I think went great with Breaking Dawn was the song "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri. This was perfect describing Bella and Edward's love because it was two people who loved each other would forever. Bella always wanted to be a vampire, so when she finally got to be one, Edward and she would be guaranteed an eternity with each other as long as they didn't die from a fight with an enemy. The mood of the song also went perfectly with the book because it is a romantic song and it wasn't a fast song. Overall, I think that this song represented the whole Twilight Series, especially Breaking Dawn.

     The third song that went good with the book(s) was "The Forgotten" by Green Day. I think this because Jacob felt very forgotten when he saw Bella and Edward happy together and with their baby. He always has loved Bella and he felt very jealous and lonely when he saw them as a family. In the book, he was feeling betrayed by Edward because he didn't like the baby (it was half vampire, therefore it was destroying Bella's body) and Edward didn't either for the same reason. But, everything changed as soon as he could hear the baby's thoughts (he could read minds) and he loved the baby now. Previously, Jacob and Edward wanted to get rid of it but then it changed and Jacob felt betrayed and when he saw them all together, he felt very forgotten; exactly how all of the lyrics in this song described it.

     The next song, "Where I Come From" by Passion Pit, I picked because, first of all, one of the lines, "Where I come from, you say things will be well and fine though the world around you is crumbing" reminded me of all of the times that Bella got into trouble but in the end, they all seemed little when she was in all of the pain of becoming a vampire. Some quotes directly from the book that supported this were: "To wish that I'd embraced the blackness while I'd still had the chance.", "I wanted to raise my arms and claw my chest open and rip the heart from it - anything to get rid of this torture.", and "James, snapping my leg under his foot. That was nothing."

     The last song; (in no particular order) that I picked was "Fire In The Water" by Feist. I picked this song because it described the relationship between Edward and Bella. The first part that showed this was the part where it said "Love's the sweetest feeling". Edward and Bella loved each other so much and Edward always said that she was like a drug to him. Another part that stood out to me was the part where it said, "The lion's in the house" because of all of the times Edward and Bella were described as a lion and a lamb together (more details on my earlier blog Eclipse 12/15/14) and that when they were together, they belonged together, so the 'lion' would be where it belongs/in it's house.

The last song that I wanted to mention quickly because it was not part of the actual soundtrack, but a song that I think would go good with the while series is "Young and Beautiful" by Lana Del Rey (I love this song). A line from the song is "Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful." I think it would be good with these books because Bella always was worried about turning older and Edward would never be with her if she was older than him. That's why she was always begging Edward to turn her (into a vampire).
